Extreme Auroral Borealis Activity Creates Unforgettable Displays

Peak Visibility Time Between 9 PM and Midnight

Prepare for an awe-inspiring spectacle in the night sky as the auroral borealis activity is currently extreme. Weather permitting, incredible northern lights displays will be visible directly overhead in most areas. Keep an eye on the skies on Saturday night for what could be another dazzling display.

According to experts, peak visibility time on Saturday night will be between 9 pm and midnight, with some chances of the display continuing until 2 am. The best views will be in areas with clear skies.

The auroral borealis, also known as the northern lights, is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, primarily visible at high latitude regions. It is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the solar wind with the Earth's magnetic field.

Increased solar activity has prompted predictions that auroras could be visible as far south as Alabama and Northern California. However, this activity may also disrupt communications on Earth tonight.

It is important to note that the aurora is not visible during daylight hours. Additionally, it does not need to be directly overhead but can be observed from as much as a 1000 km away.
