Germany reach Euro 2024 last 16 with 2-0 victory over Hungary

Musiala and Gundogan on target for hosts

Germany became the first nation to reach the last 16 of Euro 2024 with a 2-0 victory over Hungary in Munich on Saturday.

Jamal Musiala put the hosts in front with a low drive in the 23rd minute, before Ilkay Gundogan doubled their lead with a close-range finish just after the hour mark.

Hungary rarely threatened throughout the match and Germany were comfortable winners in the end.

The result means that Germany have now qualified for the knockout stages of the European Championship for the 13th time in their history.

They will face the runners-up in Group F in the last 16, with France, Portugal and Germany all still in contention for the second spot.
