Alberta's Climate: A Year-Round Guide

Subarctic and Severe Winters

Alberta, Canada, experiences a subarctic climate, characterized by long, cold winters and short, warm summers. Located at an elevation of 1,255 meters (4,117 feet) above sea level, the province has a continental climate with extreme temperature variations throughout the year.

No Dry Season

Unlike many other subarctic regions, Alberta does not have a distinct dry season. Precipitation is relatively evenly distributed throughout the year, with slightly higher levels in the summer months due to increased thunderstorm activity.
