Flash Floods Hit Flood, Texas, 4 People Rescued

Water Levels Rise Quickly, Causing Damage and Road Closures

Four People Rescued from Rising Waters

On July 18, 2023, torrential rains caused flash flooding in Flood, Texas, a small town located about 100 miles west of San Angelo.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for the area at 1:30 p.m. CDT, and by 2:00 p.m., water levels had risen significantly, causing widespread flooding.

Four people were rescued from their vehicles after they became trapped in high water. No injuries have been reported.

Floodwaters Recede, But Damage Remains

By 5:00 p.m., the floodwaters had receded, but not before causing significant damage to homes and businesses in the town.

Several roads were closed due to high water, and some homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Cleanup and Recovery Efforts Underway

City crews are currently working to clear debris and repair damaged infrastructure.

The Red Cross has set up a shelter at the local community center for those who have been displaced from their homes.

The NWS urges residents to be aware of the dangers of flash flooding.
